FOR KIDS: (August 1-7) The Book of Job, "Job"

Job was a faithful man who was very blessed. He had 7 sons and 3 daughters. He had gold and silver and camels and other livestock. He was healthy and happy and had friends.

Satan was allowed to afflict Job. He said it was easy for Job to be faithful when he had every earthly blessing.

First he took away everything but his health. He lost all his cattle, wealth, and even had his children die. He remained faithful.

He then had his health taken away and had boils all over his body. His friends then doubted him and said he must have been wicked to have all this happen to him.

Do you know any good people who have had hard trials? Why does God allow us to suffer when we are being faithful?

Job struggles, and prays and wishes that he wasn’t even born. He questions the Lord and works to find peace. Is it wrong to be upset about our trails? What should we do when we don’t understand something?

In the end Job was at peace about his trials and had a greater perspective about this life. He was then blessed with double what he had before.

On the activity page copy the pictures from the left side so that Job ends up with double his blessings.

Optional Activity: Job originally had 7 sons and 3 daughters who died. Every blessing was doubled after his trial, he started with seven thousand sheep and in the end he had fourteen thousand sheep, and so on. The only exception of doubling was his children. Why do you think he only had 7 more sons and 3 more daughters? What does it tell you about our relationships with our family memebers?
